Bài hát này được viết bởi Bob Marley & The Wailer. Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley (6/2/1945 – 11/5/1981) là một ca sĩ-nhạc sĩ và nhạc công Jamaica. Ông là người tiên phong ở dòng nhạc reggae và được vinh danh trên Đại sảnh Danh vọng Rock and Roll sau khi mất.

Bản phát hành lần đâu tiên 1974 trong album "Natty Dread ."



Bản được nhiều người xem nhiều nhất trên youtube hơn 19 triệu - Buổi biểu diễn tại sân vận động trường đại học Harvard ngày 21/7/1979


Bài hát này được rất nhiều người hát lại ở Việt nam biết nhiều đến bản phối lại của Boney M với phong cách nhạc DISCO thịnh hành nhưng năm 1970s-1980s
